ADE Ltd. is engaged in the production of a portable breath analyzer called DIABETOMAT based on an array of resistive, solid-state gas sensors in combination with a microconcentrator system. The analyzer has been configured to detect diabetes biomarkers present in exhaled air and is currently in clinical trials.

The aim of the ongoing development work is to conduct clinical trials and market the developed breath analyzer in two versions (handheld and so-called suitcase). The devices are used for non-invasive analysis in people with diagnosed diabetes or people at risk of diabetes – pre-diabetic state. The analysis is based on measuring the concentration of exhaled acetone, the concentration of which is related to the metabolism of people with diabetes, and thus it is possible to use exhaled acetone as a biomarker of diabetes.
